Seton Montessori Institute has been preparing adults to work with the Montessori approach for 40 years. We are pleased to present this workshop that will outline how the 104-year-old Montessori approach has been successfully adapted to serve the needs of adults with Alzheimer’s.
The Montessori Approach is based on respect for the whole person and on the belief that the environment should be individualized to serve the people using it. Montessori learning materials are tools that help create the bridge to reconnect to people who may seem unreachable, giving those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia the opportunity to use their hands and their five senses to activate and stimulate their minds.
Each of our presenters brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective, blending their impressive experience in working with special populations with a deep understanding of the possibilities inherent in Dr. Maria Montessori’s approach to maximizing each person’s potential.
Participants will receive a paraprofessional certificate from Seton Montessori Institute. The course will provide 12 hours of professional development training to those working in the geriatric field.
