Attention and Memory: Core Foundations of Learning with Drina Madden and Dr. Valerie Nowinski
It is a natural seque to present “Attention and Memory: Core Foundations of Learning” following Seton Montessori Institute’s Fall keynote address by Dr. Steven Hughes. Dr. Valerie Nowinski has been a Pediatric Neuropsychologist for 35 years. Drina Madden has been a certified Montessorian for 32 years, Montessori administrator for 14 years, and has taught brain-based child development for Seton Montessori Institute for 20 years. As a team, Drina and Dr. Nowinski have been bridging neuroscience with education for 25 years, directly advocation for children (infancy through to adulthood) and their families as they have worked with school staff i public, private and Montessori schools (as well as allied health professionals).
Our presenters will share how attention and memory skills are developed through practical life, sensorimotor, language, world awareness, science, math, and grace and courtesy. In small group discussions, social development, and executive functioning will be discussed as we analyze how Montessori environments support their development.
