Current Opening – Full-time Assistant Teacher in Toddler

Actively Seeking Full-time Assistant Teacher in Toddler to fill opening due to early contract termination.  Position available Feburary 15th through end of school year.  Hours are M-F from 8:45am to 4:45am.

Anticipated Openings for 2017-18 School Year:

Early Childhood Director (Part-time)

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provides support and guidance to the faculty to insure that the early childhood programs provide an appropriate Montessori environment to meet the needs of the children at that level in each classroom.
  • Provides support and guidance to ensure a positive, caring environment in all classes so that children may develop to their fullest potential in each developmental area.
  • Visible presence in all areas of the school; works toward a resolution of all problems, both routine and unique, as they arise.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the early childhood programs, which includes the implementation of the educational activities and Montessori curriculum, behavior expectations of students and adults, and communication with parents and faculty.
  • Work with the Head of School and/or Educational Director to maintain appropriate staffing for the Early Childhood program, to include supervising and training for all positions.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled faculty meetings for each program level that deal both with routine school matters and with the stimulating exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern, and to discuss the developmental needs of students in the classrooms. Prepare an agenda and take minutes to distribute to early childhood faculty and the Head of School.
  • Observe, evaluate and supervise head teachers for improvement and support of their individual performance of their job responsibilities.
  • Support and train Head Teachers as supervisors and coaches for their Associate and Assistant teachers.
  • Serve as a resource for faculty in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, student performance/behavior, parent relations, and general school procedures.
  • Work with the Educational Director and the Head of School in planning professional development for faculty and for in-service days.
  • Support the Director of Admission by participating in tours, open houses, interviews and other marketing efforts.
  • Meet with parents to discuss any concerns they have about their child, the classroom teacher, school programs and Montessori philosophy.
  • Support the Coordinator of Parent Education in the development of programs.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Admission to plan and attend Next Step Coffees and retention meetings.
  • Review and approve or disapprove requests for time-off from faculty in the early childhood program.
  • Coordinate and monitor the ordering, maintenance and inventory of classroom materials and equipment in the early childhood program.
  • Work with the Director of Finance and Operations on programmatic needs and changes during the budgeting process as well as throughout the year.

Qualifications for this job are as follows:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.  A Bachelor’s degree in education is preferred.
  • At least five years experience in management level educational position and two years supervisory experience.  Experience working with Toddler and Early Childhood classroom level.
  • Montessori experience and certification required.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be flexible.
  • First Aid and CPS training is preferred.

Assistant Teachers (2 Full-time Toddler, 1 Full-time Early Childhood, 1 Part-time Early Childhood)

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Support the Head Teacher’s implementation of the Chiaravalle curriculum consistent with the Montessori Method and principles.  Include best practices based on current research in child development and education, which are appropriate to the learning objectives for the age group.
  • Under the direction of the Head Teacher, support the individualized/differentiated learning plan in order to meet the cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual growth of each child in your class.
  • Assist the Head Teach in implementing strategies and accommodations to support student learning.  Partner with the Head Teacher to provide students with timely, clear and constructive feedback.
  • Establish meaningful, respectful relationships with each child working toward the goal of independence.
  • When applicable, assist the Head Teacher in providing opportunities for children to connect with the outdoors through the use of the playground and field space, as well as local gardens, parks or habitats.
  • Report to the Head Teacher any concerns relative to any child’s learning style, which may require support from Learning Resources.  Support the Head Teacher’s efforts to implement learning resource’s guidelines for observation, recommendation and intervention.

Qualifications for this job are as follows:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.  A Bachelor’s degree in education is preferred.
  • At least two years in a teaching support role or other relevant experience.
  • Montessori experience or certification is a plus.
  • First Aid and CPS training is preferred.

Middle School Teacher (Focus in Language Arts/Social Science)

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Observe, plan and implement the Chiaravalle curriculum consistent with the Montessori Method and principles. Include best practices based on current research in child development and education, which are appropriate to the learning objectives for the particular age group.
  • Develop and implement an individualized/differentiated learning plan in order to meet the cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual growth of each child in your class. Implement strategies and accommodations to support student learning. Provide students with timely, clear and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other Middle School teachers to team teach Math, Social Studies, Science and/or Language Arts.
  • Participate in scheduled Middle School overnight trips.

Qualifications for this job are as follows:·

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Bachelor’s degree in education is preferred.
  • At least two years of teaching experience is required preferably at the Middle School level.
  • Experience teaching in a Montessori school is a plus.
  • Montessori Certification or Professional Educator License is required. If incumbent does not have Montessori Certification, then a willingness to become certified is essential.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be flexible.
  • Experience working in a team teaching environment.
