Joliet Montessori School – Head of School

Joliet Montessori School (JMS) is currently accepting applications for the position of Head of School for the 2017-2018 school year. Located in Crest Hill, Illinois (a southwest suburb of Chicago), JMS was founded in 1966 by a group of parents who believed in a Montessori education. We’re home to students in parent-toddler, primary, elementary, and adolescent programs. Our two-building campus houses nearly 100 students, and we’re growing daily.

JMS students engage academically and socially every day, developing independence, a love of work, and respect for all. As the only Montessori school in the Chicagoland area to hold the highest certifications in both American Montessori Society (primary) and Association Montessori Internationale (elementary), our educational approach addresses each child’s distinct characteristics, interests, and needs as they move through the formative stages. JMS children take responsibility for their education while committing to becoming lifelong learners and valuable contributors to their community.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or greater and be able to demonstrate a history of successful administration and management in a Montessori school environment. Classroom experience is preferred as is experience working within the Independent School Management (ISM) model of school governance. Experience in development, fundraising, and enrollment growth is critical. Candidates must respect and encourage AMS and AMI Montessori philosophies in harmony with our proud culture. A successful candidate must be an enthusiastic and welcoming leader who can balance the daily demands of educators, students, and parents.

With a strong Parent Ambassador program, highly certified teachers, a visionary Board of Trustees, and breakthrough marketing and fundraising approaches, JMS is special school that dedicates our heart and soul to our students. We’re looking for a Head of School who can set a clear vision, spark enthusiasm, and take meaningful action every day to help our school grow and thrive.
