Infant-Toddler and Early Childhood Substitute Teachers needed at Seton Montessori School, a Lab School of Seton Montessori Institute

We are currently seeking to hire substitute teachers to work in our school programs on an as-needed basis.  Seton Montessori School serves children at the Infant-Toddler (2 months – 3 years of age), Early Childhood (ages 3 – 6) and Elementary (ages 6 – 12) levels. Candidates should be interested in serving young children within a Montessori classroom experience, must be willing to accompany children and support their learning and growth both indoors and outside year-round, and must be open to learning about the Montessori approach to education.

Required Qualifications:

o High School Diploma required. Montessori credentials, undergraduate coursework in early childhood and previous related experience preferred

o Commitment to learning about Montessori philosophy and education

o Physical dexterity and ability to lift children up to 50 pounds

o Flexibility to work with different teaching teams

We provide First Aid and CPR training to all staff, as well as Montessori Paraprofessional training.  Non-credentialed substitutes in our classrooms serve as assistants and are always paired with staff members who are familiar with the children, their routines and the setting.

Seton Montessori School is an AMS and NAEYC accredited independent school, established in 1965, and located in the Western Suburbs of the city of Chicago. Seton Montessori School is a Lab School for Seton Montessori Institute, which certifies teachers and administrators and offers professional development programs to the greater Montessori community. Our school, located on a 4-acre wooded campus, serves children from Infants (2 months) through age 12.

Substitute teaching is an excellent way of gaining experience in a Montessori classroom while maintaining personal schedule flexibility.  The starting hourly wages for this position is based on previous experience, education and qualifications.
