Outdoors & Gardens

Seton Montessori School’s four wooded acres afford a wealth of learning opportunities in nature. Children work together to care for and enjoy the outdoors, and the children venture outside nearly everyday. Working and playing in nature and under the sun enable children to have new learning experiences, to form collaborations with peers, and to generally have a lot of fun.

Some of the features of Seton’s outdoor environments include:
- Several flower and vegetable gardens
- Three sandboxes near to each building
- A compost heap for use by all children
- A heated, 3 foot deep swimming pool
- A small stream spanned by a small bridge in our forest
- A large games yard with tricycle track and balance beams
- A large preprimary yard with gross motor equipment
- A goat pen, a chicken coop, rabbit cages, and other animals
- Several pavilions for outdoor projects
- A preprimary log cabin and an elementary playhouse
- Forest trails and small sledding hills
