Julia Lacayo
Julia Lacayo is the yoga teacher and substitute teacher for the Elementary Program. She is also a former Seton parent and has been on staff at Seton for the past seven years in varying roles. Julia has spent time with children at each level, so she has known some of the Elementary students since they were very little! She has enjoyed watching them grow and develop over the years.
Julia has completed the Montessori paraprofessional course through Seton Montessori Institute. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from St. Mary's of Notre Dame and earned an M.Ed. from Loyola University Chicago after completing her studies in early childhood development at the Erikson Institute. Julia completed her child yoga certification in December 2021, and this is her third school year teaching yoga in the Elementary program.
Julia has previous work experience with children in the hospital setting as a child life specialist and in early intervention (birth-3) as a child development specialist and program coordinator.
Julia has three children: David, 21, Adam, 19, and Sara, 16. She enjoys traveling and engaging in outdoor adventures with her children; she also appreciates quiet time at home tending to her gardens, baking, reading, and snuggling with Panda, the beloved family dog.
Fun Fact: Julia grew up on a farm in north central Illinois. She brings her love & appreciation of nature into her yoga practice with students.
